Routine & Vacation Plant Caretaker

Oak Harbor, WA 98277 Zoom Available

Service Description

I'm Shelby and I have been gardening and keeping indoor plants for nearly a decade. I've kept my own houseplants (mostly alive, but learning experiences have occurred aplenty over the years!) as well as cared for plants for clients in both homes and small business office environments. I have a passion for tropical plants. I also enjoy offering specialized care for orchids and succulents. I have a close relationship with the local plant shops and am able to tap into their knowledge, as well as source top quality materials for care and even new plants for regular clients wanting to change or add to their space.

Services: I will provide either routine (often weekly/bi-weekly) or vacation (4 days-8 weeks) plant care.

For vacation care, we will consult prior to your departure of your trip at your home to discuss the expectations and I will provide a quote for the services in how it relates to the hourly price based on the care needed and size of plant collection.
-Watering, including any established fertilizer or pest care treatments.
-Trimming and foliage dusting upon request. (Once per 4 weeks)
-One time repotting at some point during the duration of the care time. The preferred new pot and potting mix must either be provided or I can procure basic nursery pots and potting mix. Up to 5 replants no larger than 8" (current pot size) can be added to any vacation contract of at least one week. Up to 10 replants for contracts between 5-8 weeks.
-OUTDOOR Up to 300 sq feet, watering up to once per week during dry periods. Apply fertilizer or pest care (as provided by plant parent) not more frequently than once per week (pest care) or biweekly (fertilizer.)

For routine care (weekly, biweekly, monthly, etc.) I will consult at your home (or office) to discuss plant care needs and schedules and arrange reoccurring visits to provide any general maintenance as follows.
-Routine watering, fertilizing, and pest control.
-Dusting and trimming leaves.
-Propagation and care for plantlets/cuttings in prop.
-Rehabilitation for sick or stressed plants. (Plus disposal/composting of terminal plants)
-Occasional repotting* as needed (See details in the next section)
-Relocating/rearranging plants in a space as needed for light or design purposes. All relocations will be discussed prior to actual moving to suit your needs and design choices as well.
-Addition/Removal as requested or needed. If you have a gap in your collection or a physically empty space needing some green, I can help you source a new plant that will fit your needs. If a plant needs to be removed from your collection (don't like anymore, bad vibes, whatever) I can help rehome it for you.

Occasional Repotting for Routine Care Clients:
-Plant parents may be responsible for the cost or procurement of materials such as pots and potting mixes. I can provide appropriate potting mixes and your preferred style of pot if readily available, at cost. This materials cost is in addition to the hourly rate.
-Depending on the plants size, quantity, or workspace at your home or office I may request to relocate the plant to my own home to repot before returning it within one week. Most times repotting can be done on site either on a garage workbench, kitchen counter, or dining table.
-I will bring a protective surface to prevent mess in your space and will clean up when repotting is completed.
-Typically repotting for routine care will be scheduled one week out, once the need has been established, so that there's time for plant parent or myself to procure any needed materials. I do keep some stock on hand, but these pots may not always be to the exact taste of a clients home decor preferences, so if a pot is due for repotting it could potentially happen same day, but more often will happen the following week after pot design has been discussed.
